Cognitive training

...

Cognitive functions, including orientation, attention, memory, abstraction, organization, planning, calculation, and problem-solving, are essential for daily life and decision-making. In individuals with autism, these functions can vary significantly, often showing unique profiles such as strengths in memory or problem-solving alongside challenges in attention, planning, or abstraction.

Cognitive training for people with autism involves structured exercises to restore, retrain, or compensate for cognitive difficulties. These tasks are integrated into meaningful, functional activities and guided by a healthcare professional. Repetition and, when appropriate, self-directed practice are encouraged after proper training. This approach helps improve adaptive functioning, supports daily activities, and enhances independence, tailoring strategies to each person’s specific cognitive profile and needs.
