Cognitive behavioural therapy

...

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a psychological therapy that combines cognitive components (aimed at thinking differently, for example through identifying and challenging unrealistic negative thoughts) and behavioural components (aimed at doing things differently, for example by helping the person to do more rewarding activities). During CBT sessions, exercises help the person to develop appropriate coping skills. CBT includes exercises, education and advice to help the person to develop appropriate coping skills to be applied in challenging situations. CBT sessions should be provided by qualificated professionals.
